BRAND NEW WORLD

The latest trend in strategic marketing communications -- digital storytelling -- is the 'new' old way of winning the hearts and minds of finicky customers.

Ordinary people telling true-to-life stories within the context of a product, candidate or cause. Stories that teach, inform, motivate, inspire, sell.

More distinctive and affordable than traditional advertising and glossy visual marketing campaigns, it's just about good stories and interesting storytelling.

From the bedroom to the boardroom, storytelling is integral to all our lives. And digital storytelling offers extraordinary communication in subtle ways.

Of course, the best part of the deal is that digital video production is far more affordable than ever before.

VIDEO NEWS RELEASE: A New Tool for Communicators

The standard two-page written press release has historically been one of the most important tools available for public relations professionals to reach the media (specifically newspapers and magazines, but also television, radio and the Internet) with an important or interesting story about a company's product, service or announcement.

That's basic PR. But, honestly, the traditional press release is boring to read and in this age of the prevalence of video, visual information rules. In fact, most press releases, both high and low quality, tend to wind up in the editor's trash can.

The latest trend in PR is the video news release (VNR) and it is one of the most effective tools we use. Video news releases are becoming as common as typical print press releases, and will at some point dominate as a medium in its own right.

The VNR is the video equivalent of a press release and is designed for TV broadcast stations but is not limited to that purpose. It consists of a complete story with visuals and narration/ voiceovers, a suggested written script and possibly additional video to be used by the station.

International-Creative.com will produce this very useful and powerful tool for the local and international market at a fraction of the cost that one would have to pay, for example, in the US.

This is possible because the price of the technology to produce video has fallen radically -- but we will always retain International-Creative quality. Best tool of all, high-quality production for fair market value.

storytelling

Every picture tells a story and increasingly it's moving pictures that carry the messages that shape the way we look at the world.

The revolution is video and the subsequent digital technology boon which is driving experimentation and alternative content approaches in the process of making feature film and other broadcast media.

HD technology, indie production aesthetics and YouTube-linked marketing strategies are transforming the film and broadcast industries at light-speed.

Of course content is still very much king, but now anyone with 10 or 20 thousand bucks and a good story can make a movie.

It is like Spielberg said: The next revolution in filmmaking will come from two kids in a garage in Des Moines using Macs.

We can't wait.
